The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) is a national organization that solicits voluntary member institutions of teacher education “to promote the learning of all PK–12 students through the promotion of high-quality preparation and continuing education for all school personnel” ( ). This Washington D.C.–based organization boasts membership of over 740 liberal arts colleges, state universities, research institutions, and education organizations from throughout the United States that prepare approximately two thirds of the nation's new school personnel each year. State chapters of AACTE have been established in 45 states. The presidents (or their designees) from these chapters are members of the Advisory Council of State Representatives (ACSR), which meets twice a year to advise the national association on policy issues and concerns in the member states.
