Baldy Center for Law and Social Policy
Created in 1978 under a bequest from Buffalo attorney Christopher Baldy, the Baldy Center for Law and Social Policy coordinates interdisciplinary research devoted to the study of law and legal institutions. The Center is located at the University at Buffalo (UB) School of Law, State University of New York, and it engages faculty and students throughout the university. Over one hundred faculty members from nearly twenty academic departments at UB are involved with the Center. Law faculty at Buffalo in the early 1970s, under the deanship of sociologist Richard Schwartz, collaborated with social scientists to study the role of law in society.
