While Canada has some sports and other leisure activities in common with the United States, many forms of play are very much a product of both the environment and history of the country. If there is one distinguishing characteristic about play in Canada, it might be the great extent to which it is outdoors. Skills that were required for sustenance and survival in the earliest days have evolved into individual and team events.
