Task-oriented leadership is focused on achieving goals. Leaders who are task oriented are attentive to production and achievement. They are also more likely to keep their distance and be aloof. The assumptions they make about their roles, purposes, and behaviors reflect their commitment to completing the work requested of them. Successful task-oriented leaders are key in contributing to their organization's effectiveness by setting goals, allocating labor, and enforcing sanctions.
