New Commission on the Skills of the American Workforce

The National Center on Education and the Economy is a nonprofit organization that sponsored the efforts of the New Commission on the Skills of the American Workforce (NCSAW). The purpose of the NCSAW was to analyze the current education and training systems in America and to generate processes and policies that would ensure that the United States continued to compete in a global market. To meet this demand the Commission conducted international industry and workforce development studies, generated several staff research papers, commissioned expert papers from the field, interviewed experts, and engaged in 13 international organization visits. This research and analysis led to the report titled Tough Choices or Tough Times , which was released on December 14, 2006.
