Three primary group modalities are relevant in the treatment of anger management. These modalities are psychoeducational, counseling, and therapy groups (Association for Specialists in Group Work [ASGW], 2000; Gazda, Ginter, & Horne, 2001). This chapter discusses anger management issues and reviews each of these three group interventions, including the definition of the group approach, leader and member roles, and methods of evaluating change. A case example of each of the group formats frames treatment points and treatment efficacy issues while illustrating differences between the three approaches.
