Global Change
In the early 1960s, Bob Dylan wrote and sang a ballad titled “The Times They Are a-Changin’,” which socially, politically, and environmentally reflected the dynamic nature of the times (Rosenstone, 1969). The 60s were a period of significant social change in the United States, with protests about a number of topics including war, discrimination, and environmental degradation. Current times may be very different, but they are still “a-changin’,” with the early 21st century characterized by rapid social and biophysical change at scales from the local to the global.
