Achievement Gap Between Black and White Students: Theoretical Analysis With Recommendations for Remedy
The purpose of this chapter is to offer a measurement perspective on how to understand and eliminate the persisting achievement gap between Black and White students. We start out by describing the nature of this achievement gap, which provides the foundation for introducing our measurement perspective for understanding it. From this perspective, we evaluate a sample of educational reforms developed to narrow if not eliminate the gap.
