Baccarat

The casino card game Baccarat has its origins in late Medieval Italy. Legend has it that it was invented by an Italian gambler named Felix Falguierein, who used a deck of Tarot cards and claimed that the game was based on an Etruscan mythical ritual involving a virgin throwing a nine-sided dice. It was introduced to France by the Italians during the reign of King Charles VIII (r. 1483–98), and was known as Chemin de Fer . After it was introduced to England, it became known as European Baccarat. It debuted in the Dunes Casino in Las Vegas in the late 1950s, by which time it was available in many other casinos around the world.
