The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is an advocacy organization established in New York in 1913 to stop, by appeals to reason and conscience, and if necessary, by appeals to law, the defamation of the Jewish people; to secure justice and fair treatment to all citizens; and to put an end forever to unjust and unfair discrimination against and ridicule of any sect or body of citizens. The ADL has 30 regional offices in the United States and three overseas offices in Israel, Russia, and Italy and an annual budget of more than $50 million. Local efforts include assisting law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute extremists, rallying support for Israel, advocating for the separation of church and state, organizing outreach efforts between diverse ethnic and religious groups, providing anti-bias and diversity training, monitoring extremist activity, and publishing Holocaust and tolerance curricula.
